Heidi Bechler is a research and instruction librarian at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and a collage artist. She uses her background in art to engage students in visually stimulating, relevant, student-centered library instruction and workshops. In 2024, Bechler was nominated for the Library Staff Service Award at the University of Wisconsin—Madison for her contributions to the Kohler Art Library and the Center for Design and Material Culture. Heidi also earned two travel awards from the University of Wisconsin—Madison and the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) to attend the 2024 ARLIS/NA annual conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Outside of her role at SCAD, Bechler creates intricate collages and artists’ books focusing on themes of intimacy, gender, and place. Her works are held in numerous private collections in addition to the Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection.
